Old Testament Reading Daniel 7:9-10 (NIV)
9 “As I looked,
“thrones were set in place,
and the Ancient of Days took his seat.
His clothing was as white as snow;
the hair of his head was white like wool.
His throne was flaming with fire,
and its wheels were all ablaze.
10 A river of fire was flowing,
coming out from before him.
Thousands upon thousands attended him;
ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him.
The court was seated,
and the books were opened.
New Testament Reading Revelations 1:4b-8 4 John,
To the seven churches in the province of Asia:
Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits[a] before his throne, 5 and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.
To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, 6 and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.
7 “Look, he is coming with the clouds,”[b]
and “every eye will see him,
even those who pierced him”;
and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.”[c]
So shall it be! Amen.
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Gospel Reading John 18;33-37 (NIV)
33 Pilate then went back inside the palace, summoned Jesus and asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?”
34 “Is that your own idea,” Jesus asked, “or did others talk to you about me?”
35 “Am I a Jew?” Pilate replied. “Your own people and chief priests handed you over to me. What is it you have done?”
36 Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”
37 “You are a king, then!” said Pilate.
Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”

Message of thanks from Jane and Dick Smith: You will remember that when Jane Smith left the Benefice, she was given a week’s holiday in Norfolk. She has been in touch to say she has now enjoyed that holiday and writes…
To Friends across the Benefice
We have had a wonderful week in a lovely cottage, the sun shone every day. Lots of long walks along the beach with not many other people around apart from a few other dog walkers all very friendly. It’s a holiday we would not have had without your kindness. We have enjoyed every minute and made lots of new and happy memories – thank you very much. I wrote all my Christmas cards while here and enjoyed doing them.
With Best Wishes for Christmas and the New Year
Best wishes
Jane & Dick xx
